I started hashing again in Frankfurt in 1998 and he walked right up and made me feel welcome. I was an SCB and so was he so we found ourselves together a lot. He was great to talk with and had so many stories. At Hobart interhash I stuck with him at the venue and he introduced me to so many people. He introduced me to Bold Fokker and Tongue Job, who would introduce me to KIND. At some point he called me his long lost son,( I think he had many), and people would find out I was from Frankfurt at away hashes and ask me "do you know the Wolf?" When I replied, 'yeah he's my Dad', I would be treated like royalty. Probably because that's how he treated everyone. I had really hoped to make it to his funeral, but I'm sure he'll be there to welcome me to Heavens Hash...unless he went the other way. OnOn.

"The" Wolf, Here I sit, detoured, somewhere in Pennsylvania, trying to locate the nearest Hash. Though my trail remains an all too long one at times, my little boy Blue Hare has joined you there with the Great Giz' and Goethe. We know that the shortcuts are misnomer-ed, right: They are necessary departures for a shepherd who wore "the" Wolf's clothing to explore and mark for the following flock. Thanks again for dropping me off at my hotel after I hared at Hohemark that last summer. This soldier salutes you in the tradition you initiated near Frankenstein's Castlemanner I

What a loss to the H3 community. I don't think anyone had a bigger influence on the Oslo Hash, where I met him, and probably several other groups that he was involved in. A great Hasher and a natural leader.

I have not seen the Wolf much since I departed for the US and he for Germany, but I made a point out of meeting up with him during a visit to Germany in the fall of 2009. I had no idea it would be the last time I would enjoy his company.

RIP Wolf. On-On.

Wolf.....without knowing all the details, it sounds like you passed doing what you most enjoyed doing, which is a wonderful thing. RIP Lunch.

Wolf is a hasher from a time gone by. His presence when I met him at the Frankfurt Hash in 2008 was immediate and lasting. I only experienced his hospitality from the car ride he and Dragon Lady gave me back to my hostel, but it asserted how amazing hashers are world-wide and the level of giving in the group. Wolf, I rose a toast and had a down-down in your honor this past weekend at the Las Vegas Hash. I somehow expect you joined in. On-On!

It was a beautiful day in Steinbach when I arrived last Sunday. Wolf didn't want to finish a beer so we split it between us. We were briefed, on-on was called and the Wolf started, sometimes walking, sometimes running. He seemed fine and was chatting to the virgins, making them feel at home.

About half way around the pack was a bit spread out and he headed for a shortcut across a gulley rather than use the bridge. That was the last we saw of him. We didn't worry at first as sometime's Wolf's shortcuts weren't so short but after a while people started worrying and tried to ring him (in recent times he carried a mobile around his neck).

He was found later by the search party with the police and ambulance in attendance. He had climbed out of the gulley found the trail and feeling ill sat down on the meadow at the side. It was at this point that he must have died.

He is survived by his wife Dragon Lady, his son Little Wolf and various of his "unwanted children", that is, young hashers from around the world who he had mentored.

ON ON, you b*stard, O-ON!!

Wolf - What a sad news for us who remain down there. My job had me commute to Frankfurt and I was thinking at giving you a call and meet for a beer. I guess that will be for later. At least you passed away doing what you liked, and I am sure that there is lots of untested trails up there. Mark them well for us so that we can Hash together up there. And as we sang together: if you get there before I do, Comin' for to carry me home, Tell all my friends I'm comin' too, Comin' for to carry me home. ON ON - keep some beer for us Frantic

Wolf - you will be missed. I am so glad I got to know you over the past 13 years or so. Will never forget meeting up for cafe con leche in Madrid every morning for MH3s 1111th. Really nice spending quality time and getting to know you better outside of the hash. On On and save a beer for me!

We were shocked and saddened to hear this tragic news. We enjoyed Wolf's company on the Dalmation Hash cruises and as well as on the first Danube Hash cruise. The hashing world has lost an icon. I guess he went doing what he loved best. Our condolences to Dragon Lady.
from: The Vicar -
This is a tragic loss for the Hash. Having joined in many of his misadventures on the Danube, Silk Road and elsewhere, Wolf is a man who lived for and loved the Hash. Our sincere condolences to Dragon lady and thanks from the Oslo Hash for the seven years as our GM - it was a hard act to follow.

The Wolf's performance at the Inter-Caucasus Hash in Yerevan last year was one of the highlights. On the trail, he outpaced all the other walkers except my kids, who delighted in walking the trail with him. Just like that run, he's now beaten us all to the final On-On. He hashed in style, he went out in style--doing what he loved, surrounded by friends of like mind. May we all be so lucky. RIP, faithful hound. Condolences to the Frankfurt Hash.
