The Wasatch Hash House Harriers (Utah, USA) will sponsor their second Moab Hash and Campout during the weekend of May 27-30, 2004, timed to coincide with their 500th run. In the United States, this also coincides with the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
What makes this event worth noting is the exceptionally beautiful venue and the activities available to those wishing to spend extra time there. For starters, Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park are located just a stone’s throw away from the town of Moab, Utah. This is also a Mecca for adventure junkies. Hiking, mountain biking, safari Jeep tours, and whitewater rafting on the Colorado River are just some of the attractions.

The exact hash campground location has yet to be determined, but is expected to be along the scenic Colorado River. For the less adventurous, hotels are available within the town of Moab.

Cost will be $50 from now until Feb 28, $60 until April 30th, $70 in May, and $80 if you show up on the day of the event. Take $10 off if you cannot make it until Saturday. There will be a Pre-Lube Hash on Thursday night in Salt Lake City for the typical cost of $5.

Moab can be reached via Salt Lake City through Salmon Air for $196.35 round-trip if booked 14 days in advance. They have a 5:00 p.m. flight on Friday, May 27 and a 1:00 p.m. return flight on Monday, May 30, which works perfect with the hash schedule. If there is sufficient interest in a later flight on Friday, the Wasatch Hash may charter a nine-passenger plane for $1,166 plus tax and fees. Moab is located along Hwy 191 in the Southeastern corner of the state. A hash shuttle (15-passenger van) will be available for those flying into Salt Lake City before 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27, and will return to the airport by 4:00 p.m. on Monday for $40 roundtrip. Airport Shuttles can be arranged on your own for $50 each way. A full range of rental cars is available at the airport for those who wish to make the drive on their own. It is about a 4.5 to 5 hour drive from the airport to the camp site.
