Find a Hash
Use Find a Hash for nearby or destination searches on a phone, tablet or desktop. Use the full directory to browse by country, region or kennel name and explore listing history.
The growing Half-Mind directory currently covers the Americas (including the USA and Canada), Europe including the UK, Africa and Australia. Coverage and verification vary by area; a worldwide search does not mean every country or kennel is listed. Imported records can include historical clubs.
Open a kennel’s listing to review its status, usual schedule, location, contact links and last verified date when available. Founders, genealogy and historical notes appear in the details. Use the listing’s verification or correction link to report changes; Site Admin reviews submissions.
Search by region, country and club
The directory homepage and results page use the same search layout: Region, Country, Club name, Location and Status, followed by Search and Clear filters. Expand Search by contact name or email when you need a listed contact. Results retain your selections so you can refine the search.
- Choose an available region or leave Region at All regions. For a particular country, enter its name in Country—for example, Canada or Australia.
- Optionally enter a full or partial country name. Country suggestions come from current directory records. UK searches United Kingdom; United States searches USA. Typing Europe or Africa in Country selects that whole region.
- Add a club name and/or a city, state/province or area. Filters combine: Europe + France + Paris narrows to matching clubs in that country and region.
- Choose All, Active or Dead clubs and select Search. Clear filters starts an unfiltered search.
Browse the Americas, Australia, Canada, Europe, including the UK or Africa. Imported details may be historical or unverified. An Unknown status or an Active filter does not establish that a club is currently running. Website schedule text and city-centre map pins are starting points; confirm the actual next trail with the club.
Some imported locations use an estimated city centre inferred from a clear city in the club name. This is not a confirmed meeting point. A map pin, website link or ordinary directory edit does not verify the club.
To help improve an Australian, Canadian, European or African listing, open the specific club and choose Verify listing or Verified (date) – Reverify. Confirm activity, usual days/frequency/times/season, public contact links and location; provide the source and date checked. If unsure, say so rather than guessing. Reports go to moderation.
🇦🇺 Australia joins the Half-Mind directory — On On!
The Hash Goes Down Under! Half-Mind added 399 Australian kennel listings on October 12, 2026, including 213 recorded as dead/historical and 186 not marked dead. These records were imported from reviewed staging data; their inclusion does not mean they have been independently verified as currently running.
Browse Australian Hash House Harriers → Search by club, state or city, and choose the appropriate status filter. Historical clubs may be hidden when the Active filter is selected.
Australian Hashers: we need your help. Open a club listing and use its verification or correction link to confirm whether it still runs, its usual schedule, location, website and public contacts. Include the source and date checked. Reports are reviewed by Site Admin before the live directory is changed. Do not assume an estimated map location is the trail start.
You can also use Find a Hash on the Go and select or enter Australia as the country. The app uses the live worldwide directory; records without usable coordinates may appear in text results but not on the map.
Directory status and statistics
Each kennel has the legacy DEAD flag and a Current State value. The standard Current State choices are Alive and Verified, Unknown and Dead. Status comparisons are case-insensitive, so values such as Dead, DEAD and dead are treated the same. Older nonstandard Current State values are highlighted for correction in the directory editor.
On Statistics / Counts, Active means DEAD is not Y; Dead means DEAD=Y; and To verify is the subset of active clubs whose Current State is Unknown.
Directory highlights and community confirmations
The statistics page starts with linked headline cards for total clubs, active listings, clubs verified within the last 90 days and Unknown clubs needing verification. Active means not marked dead and can include Unknown clubs. Use the verification invitation and area shortcuts to find clubs you know. The Recently confirmed section shows the six latest distinct clubs with recorded verification history that are currently Alive and Verified; ordinary edits do not count as verification. Missing history is shown as unavailable, not zero.
Country and region counts
Statistics / Counts shows total, active, needing-verification and dead club counts by country and region. Active means DEAD is not Y and can include Unknown clubs. Regional resources and traveling hashes are excluded from geographic breakdowns.
Opening a specific club’s map link centres on that club and opens its popup, including a dead club, when usable coordinates are recorded. Some new Canadian map pins are estimated city centres, not confirmed trail starts.
Help verify a club
Start from the verification invitation on the home page, click the active clubs needing verification count on Statistics / Counts, or open the Community Verification Drive. You can also verify a specific club from its public listing. On the verification page, use Find a kennel you know: enter part of its name and/or choose a country or region, then select Find kennels. The filters apply to the selected project and remain in place when you switch projects or move to the next results page. Choose Clear filters to return to the oldest listings.
A useful confirmation says whether the club is still active, whether its website or social page still belongs to it, and whether its usual schedule and public contact details are current. Tell us how you know and when you checked; suggest corrections where needed. Choose “Don't know” when unsure.
Submissions go to Site Admin for review. Accepting a confirmed active report updates the club's status and verification date. Other suggested changes require explicit administrator selection. A confirmation does not establish the next trail's meeting point: check the next trail's date, time and location with the club before travelling.
Suggest a missing kennel
Use Suggest a kennel for a club missing from the directory. Sign in, then supply its name, country, state or province, and first-hash date if known, plus useful public contact links. Site Admin reviews suggestions before creating a record. For a club already listed, submit a verification or correction from its listing.
Traveling? Find a Hash near where you’ll be!
Open the app, enter your destination, choose a distance and any preferred usual run days, then search. If several places match, choose the correct destination from the highlighted list. You can also use your current location.
Distances are straight-line distances from the chosen location to recorded kennel coordinates. Pins can be approximate city centres. Contact the kennel to confirm the next trail’s date, time and meeting point.
The traditional kennel map remains available for exploring directory locations.
Use the Find a Hash app
Open half-mind.com/app/ in your browser. Searches and maps need an internet connection.
- Choose a location. Enter a city or town, preferably with its country, or tap Use my location and allow location access. Press Enter or use the green search button. If more than one location matches, select the correct one under Which place did you mean?.
- Choose distance and days. Enter a distance from 1–1,000 and choose miles or kilometres. Select one or more preferred usual run days; no days selected means any day.
- Refine the search. You can enter a country or kennel name. For an entire state/province, use its field and leave the city blank—for example, Oregon or OR. A destination radius and an entire-state search are different ways to find clubs.
- Find kennels and review results. Use the green search button, then switch between List and Map. Select a pin or result to locate its kennel. Enable Include dead kennels for historical/inactive listings. Use Clear location to remove the chosen location.
- Check before travelling. Review status, the verification date when available, contact links and usual schedules. Use Help verify this kennel for updates; submissions are reviewed by Site Admin.
Map key: green = Alive and Verified; yellow = Unknown / not verified; red = Dead. An Active filter means not marked dead and can include Unknown clubs. A usual weekday is not a confirmed upcoming trail.
Share a search
Run a search, then use Share this search or Copy link. The link retains your destination/map centre, distance, selected weekdays and other filters. If you used your current location, the link can include its coordinates; review it before sharing. Results can change when the directory is updated.
Install on your phone
No app store download is needed. Open half-mind.com/app/ and use How to install on your phone, or follow these steps:
- iPhone / iPad: open the app in Safari, tap Share, choose Add to Home Screen, then Add. If Open as Web App appears, leave it switched on.
- Android: open the app in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, choose Add to Home Screen or Install app, and follow the prompts.
If you opened the link inside Facebook, use its menu to open it in Safari or Chrome first. You can continue using the app in your browser without installing it.
Location and feedback
If current location fails, check the browser’s location permission for Half-Mind or enter a destination manually. The app requests location when you choose Use my location.
For an app problem, open Report an app problem / send feedback, describe what happened and choose Prepare feedback email. This opens a draft; you send it yourself. If no email app is configured, email Ra@half-mind.com. For incorrect kennel information, use the kennel’s verification/correction link.
Travel counts and personal profiles belong in Where Have You Hashed?, separate from finding kennels.
Local verification campaigns
Half-Mind may publish a state/province volunteer campaign link asking local hashers to review kennels in a finite area. These public campaign pages are a shortcut into the same moderated verification process: choosing or reporting information does not directly change the directory. Site Admin reviews submissions before any directory fields are changed.
Contact a club before travelling
Open a club listing and use Contact this club. It opens a recorded club email, usable phone number, Facebook page or website, depending on what is available. Website and social actions open the page so you can find its contact options; they do not send a message automatically. Named contacts and other available public contact methods appear alongside the button. If no usable contact is recorded, suggest a current contact from the listing.
Confirming schedules and contacts
If notes and the displayed schedule disagree, use the listing's verification/correction route and explain the current recurrence, weekday, time and season. Equivalent wording such as “weekly Saturday” and “every Saturday” does not need a correction. For “biweekly,” specify whether you mean every two weeks or twice a week. State whether a schedule is historical, seasonal, irregular or tied to the full moon. Leave unknown details blank rather than guessing.
Use a current public club contact or official page as evidence and include when you checked it. A verification request may arrive with your club's stored listing and a link to its exact verification form. Review the details and submit confirmed corrections through that form; publication still requires moderation.
Suggesting or correcting a club logo
Open the club's listing and choose Add or update club logo, or use Patch Gallery with Club logo selected. Confirm the club name and ID and supply a useful image description. An administrator must explicitly approve and assign the image; a numbered filename does not identify a club.
If a logo belongs to a different club, use the record's correction link and include both club names and listing links. An uploaded image is not necessarily a physical patch. Historical designs can remain in the gallery even when a different image is the current club logo.
Create and use a Where account
- Open Where Have You Hashed? and register or sign in.
- Use the full activation link in your verification email, then sign in through the Where section. If the link fails, use Resend activation email. Already active accounts can sign in without verifying again; use password recovery if needed.
- Use My Counts to select countries and U.S. states, then save.
- Use Profile & Password for your public bio and profile information.
Selections are not saved merely by clicking the map or filtering a list. Save, wait for confirmation, then reload to verify.
Lists, maps and milestones
Open Where Have You Hashed? to use My Lists, the U.S. Map, World Map and milestones. The state map allows click-to-select editing while signed in. Milestones use saved selections: countries, states, total hashes and real-world continent assignments. If a count or map label appears wrong, use the correction/reporting option on the relevant page.
Patches, hashtags and plates
Browse the Patch Gallery, Hashtags and Plates. Cards use clear record labels: Gallery patch record #, Tag record # and Plate record #. Click an image for the viewer; use Previous/Next or left/right arrows, and Escape to close.
New image submissions are moderated. Sign in through Where Have You Hashed? before uploading a hashtag when possible so an administrator can explicitly credit it to your profile.
Club relationship safety: “Used as logo for Club #” means an administrator explicitly selected that exact Patch Gallery record as the active logo. “Linked to Club #” is a related patch, not a logo. Neither is inferred from a legacy p[number] filename, a name or a kennel.
Your contributions
Your Where account can have a public profile showing approved and pending Patch, Tag and Plate records that Site Admin explicitly connected to that account. Browse the Patch Gallery, Hashtags or Plates to find a record. Older submissions may not yet be credited; use the correction/reporting route on the relevant record when available rather than assuming ownership from a filename, club number or patch number.
Request a correction
Use Report a data correction on the relevant Patch, Hashtag or Plate record, or use Report a profile correction from the relevant public profile in Where Have You Hashed?. For kennel information, start with Find a Hash, open the kennel listing and use its report/correction option. Reports go to Site Admin and do not edit public records immediately.
Site navigation
The simplified shared menu groups the site into Find a Hash, My Travels, Hash Collections, Help the Directory and Help & About. On a phone, open the Menu button, then choose a group. The Half-Mind logo returns to the homepage; Log in / My account provides account access.
Find a Hash includes the app, directory, traditional map and statistics. Hash Collections includes patches, hashtags, plates and songbooks, plus links to Genealogy, the On On Podcast and Interhash Council. The app has its own compact header with a link back to Half-Mind.

Website evidence and verification dates
Administrators can review a club’s website for recent dated run evidence before marking it Alive and Verified. A verification date records when that review was approved; it is not the date of the next trail. A usual schedule or past calendar entry alone does not confirm a run took place. Confirm the next trail’s date, time and meeting point with the club before travelling. You can help through the Community Verification Drive.
Event Patch & Tag Gallery
Visit the Event Patch & Tag Gallery to browse approved patches and hashtags grouped by event. Filter by event name, year, host country and image type, or search for an event, city or image name. City is optional. Open a thumbnail for the full image, or its title for the original gallery entry.
An Event label links to the reviewed event details. The combined gallery contains images explicitly associated by an administrator. Older Event-labelled patches and tags may still appear only in the separate Event patches and Event tags lists until they have been associated with an event.
For an Event patch upload, select Event and supply its name, year and host country/city where known. For a hashtag, select Event and complete its event, year, host-country and optional host-city fields. Your details are suggestions for moderation; uploads remain pending until approved. An administrator creates or selects the shared event record. Event association does not identify the uploader or assign an image as a club logo.
Club patches and logos
A club listing shows approved images explicitly linked to that club or used as its logo, in the expanded details section. Thumbnails open full images and names link to gallery records. A patch may also carry an Event label. Pending images are hidden. Use the listing’s Add or update club logo link to submit a suggestion; log in before uploading. Logo selection is reviewed by an administrator.
Privacy and help
Use the current page's report route for inaccurate public data. Do not post passwords or private contact details in a correction description. Where account and Site Administration logins are separate.
